I am directed to state that in the reference cited, Government have declared Thursday, the 24th April 2014 as a Public Holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) in view of General Elections to Lok Sabha 2014 and the bye-election to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 28 Alandur Assembly Constituency, in Tamil Nadu.

Subject: Closing of Central Government Offices in connection with general elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies and Bye Elections to Legislative Assemblies during 2014.

The undersigned is directed to say that in connection with the general elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha & Sikkim and Bye Elections to Legislative Assemblies of some States, scheduled to be held in 2014, the following guidelines, already issued by DOPT vide OM No. 12/14/99-JCA dated 10th October, 2001, have to be followed for closing of the Central Government Offices including Industrial Establishments in the States:-

It has been decided to declare Monday, the 14th April 2014, as a Closed Holiday on account of the birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, for all

Holiday on account of Bakrid for the Central Government Offices in Kerala

A press release has been issued by the Central Government Welfare Co-Ordination Committee in Kerala regarding the change of holiday on account of Bakrid. The holiday on account of Bakrid for the Central Government Offices in Kerala will be on October 26 (Friday) instead of Saturday as in the case of State Government Offices.

Holiday for Idul Zuha (Bakrid) changed from 27th October to 26th October, 2012 consequent on change in Kerala State Government Holiday.
