ISO Certification to Government Departments

An indicator has been included in the Results-Framework Document (RFD) of all the Ministries/Departments subject to RFD policy to implement ISO-9001 certification as per the approved action plan. Departments are taking the prescribed steps required to obtain ISO 9001 certification.

Certification agencies are to be engaged by the concerned Departments for obtaining ISO:9001 certification. To ensure good standards of certification process, Ministries/Departments have been advised to select a technically qualified certification body for their certification.

This information was given today by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu.

Govt departments owe Rs 57 crore in dues to Air India

Air India is owed a sum of over Rs 57 crore in outstanding dues by different ministries and departments, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said today.

“The outstanding amount to be collected by Air India from the various ministries/departments of the government and government agencies as on March 15, 2012 is approximately Rs 574.67 crores,” Singh said in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

Singh said that the Air India had submitted the bills to the respective offices and was pursuing the matter for realisation of dues.

In response to another question, Singh said that a strike by pilots agitating against non-payment of salaries and flying allowance on January 14 this year had cost the national carrier Rs 5.8 crore.

“The loss of revenue due to strike of pilots on 14.1.2012 is approximately Rs 5.8 crore,” Singh told the Rajya Sabha.
