All India consumer price index numbers for industrial workers All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of March, 2008 increased by 2 points and stood at 137 (one hundred and thirty seven).
During March, 2008, the index recorded maximum increase of 6 points in Nagpur centre, 5 points each in Ludhiana, Ajmer and Doom-Dooma-Tinsukia centres, 4 points in 6 centres, 3 points in 13 centres, 2 points in 23 centres and 1 point in 21 centres. The index decreased by 2 points in Guwahati centre while in the remaining 10 centres the index remained stationary.
The maximum increase of 6 points in Nagpur centre is mainly due to increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat, Groundnut Oil, Goat Meat and Vegetables. The increase of 5 points in Ludhiana is mainly due to Rice, Pulses, Mustard Oil, Vanaspati, Milk, Onion and Vegetables, while that in Ajmer centre it is due toWheat, Milk, Groundnut Oil, Pure Ghee and Vegetables and in Doom-Dooma-Tinsukia it is due to Wheat Atta, Rice, Masur Dal, Mustard Oil, Vegetables and Pan Leaf etc. The decrease of 2 points in Guwahati centre is due to Rice and Vegetables.

The point to point rate of inflation for the month of March, 2008 is 7.87% as compared to 5.47% in February, 2008.
