AICPIN for the month of July, 2008
All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of July, 2008 increased by 3 points and stood at 143 (one hundred and fortythree).
During July, 2008, the index recorded maximum increase of 7 points each in Faridabad and Angul-Talcher centres, 5 points each in Rourkela, Bhilwara, Nasik, Kodarma, Ranchi Hatia, Jamshedpur and Kanpur centres, 4 points each in 15 centres, 3 points each in 13 centres, 2 points in 22 centres and 1 point in 16 centres. The index decreased by 1 point in Darjeeling centre while in the remaining 2 centres the index remained stationary.3. The maximum increase of 7 points in Faridabad centre is mainly due to increase in the prices of Mustard Oil, Onion, Vegetable & Fruit items, Electricity Charges, House Rent Index and Primary School Books etc., in Angul-Talcher centre the increase of 7 points is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Pulses, Milk (Cow), Vegetable & Fruit Items, Tea (Readymade) and Soft Coke etc.
The increase of 5 points in Rourkela, Bhilwara, Nasik, Kodarma, Ranchi Hatia, Jamshedpur and Kanpur centres is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Masur Dal, Mustard Oil, Groundnut Oil, Milk, Onion, Vegetable & Fruit items, Sugar, Tea (Readymade), House Rent Index and Bus Fare etc. The decrease of 1 point in Darjeeling centre is due to decrease in the prices of Wheat Atta and Poultry.4. The point to point rate of inflation for the month of July, 2008 is 8.33% as compared to 7.69% in June, 2008.
