The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers
All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of August, 2008 increased by 2 points and stood at 145 (one hundred and forty five).
During August, 2008, the index recorded maximum increase of 10 points each in Godavarikham center, 9 points in Guntur center, 6 points in Munger Jamalpur center, 5 points in 2 centres, 4 points each in 6 centres, 3 points each in 11 centres, 2 points in 14 centres and 1 point in 30 centres. The index decreased by 2 points in Quilon centers the index remained stationary.
The maximum increase of 10 points in Godavarikhani centre is mainly due to increase in the prices of Rice, Arhar Dal, Moong Dal, Goat Meat, Onion, Vegetable & Fruit items and Sugar etc. The increase of 9points in Guntur center is mainly due to increase in the prices of Rice, Arhar Dal, Onion, Vegetable and Fruit items etc. The decrease of 2 point in Quilon center is due to decrease in the prices of Fish Fresh and Coconut. The decrease of 1 point in Madurai center is due to decrease in the prices of Rice and some Vegetable and Fruit Items while the decrease of 1 point in Kodarma center is due to decrease in the prices of Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta and some Vegetable & Fruit Items.

The point to point rate of inflation for the month of August, 2008 is 9.02% as compared to 8.33% in July, 2008.
