“Give native medicine also for swine flu”
TIRUNELVELI: The Tamil Nadu Village Health Nurses’ Association has appealed to the State Government to distribute Indian medicine also along with the allopathic formulations for the swine flu now threatening the State.
The Tirunelveli district branch of the association, in its meeting held on Saturday, said that the State Government, now prescribing allopathic medicine for swine flu, should also give native medicine for this dreaded disease as it was done when chikunguya ravaged the entire State. Since the native medicines that did not have any adverse side-effects gave a speedy and significant relief from chikunguya, the Indian medicines should be given for swine flu also.
The monthly allowance of Rs. 3,200, travelling allowance of Rs. 1,000, free housing and ration and risk allowances should be extended to village health nurses.
New posts to accommodate village health nurses on promotion should be created, speakers at the meeting said.
Office-bearers of the association — Anne Juliet, A. Kalaiselvam, P. Nirmala and others spoke.
