Demand for 6th pay commission: State staff plans letter campaign
DHARWAD: The Akhila Karnataka Government Employees Federation (AKSGEF) has decided to launch an agitation demanding the constitution of the Sixth Pay Commission and pay the salaries as per the recommendation of the Commission. As a first step, it will start a letter campaign from Monday.
The Central government has already been paying its employees’ salaries as per the recommendations of the Commission since the past three years. The state government should constitute the new pay commission once in five years and implement its recommendations, said Ramchandra Mudagannavar, president of Dharwad district unit of AKSGEF.
He said the district unit will organize a meeting of all its members on January 17 and post the letters to the chief minister explaining their demands.
The district unit of AKSGEF has also opposed the move of the government to deduct a day’s salary of the all the state government employees in Dharwad district and use it for construction of a cultural complex in the government employees’ bhavan in Dharwad.
