CAPF Recruitment Rules Amended to Extend Benefit of Relaxed Eligibility Conditions to all Candidates From J&K
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as CRPF, BSF etc. recruit all over the country. The level of recruitment has been stepped up in the last two years and is likely to continue at this level for a few more years. In 2009, CAPFs recruited 1109 onstables in Jammu & Kashmir. In 2010, 2309 constables were recruited in that State.
There are extant orders issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India providing for relaxation in height and chest in the case of certain States/regions as well as certain communities. So far as Jammu & Kashmir is concerned, the eligibility conditions have been relaxed for the Kashmir region and Leh and Ladakh regions.
Government desires to recruit more persons to the CAPFs from Jammu & Kashmir. Hence, there is a case for relaxing the eligibility conditions for all sections of the people in Jammu & Kashmir including the Jammu region. Henceforth the said relaxation will be available to all the Permanent Residents of Jammu & Kashmir.
Accordingly, it is proposed to amend the extant orders and extend the benefit of relaxed eligibility conditions to all candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. A copy of the amendment is attached.
As a result of the proposed amendment all sections of the people in the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir will be benefited. Jammu & Kashmir will be on par with States like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura so far as relaxed eligibility conditions are concerned.
Since certain orders pertaining to the issue of certificates in the Jammu region were issued by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir on 25.3.2011 and 7.4.2011, this proposal to amend the extant orders of MHA is being put in the public domain (www.mha.gov.in). This proposal is also being communicated to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and after obtaining the views of the State Government final orders will be issued shortly.
Government of India hopes that the relaxation of eligibility conditions for all candidates in the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir will be welcomed by all sections of the people of that State.
