All India Pensioners Welfare Association has appealed to the Central government to make Employees Pension Scheme 1995 beneficial to the pensioners.
M.Alagarsamy, general secretary of the association, told presspersons here on Sunday that the scheme is implemented with contributions from employees. But it needs to be updated and changed given the price rise. The scheme is in no way better than the pension schemes implemented by the Central and State government’s for old age people, widows, employees in unorganised sector in which there is no contribution from employees.
“In fact, though we contributed our share, we get very little amount compared to the other schemes. There is no increase in the pension amount for the past 15 years.”
The Association also appealed to the Central and State governments to see that the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Bill 2011 introduced in Lok Sabha on March 24, 2011 gives a fair deal to all pensioners.
