New guidelines for ‘Tatkal Booking’ in Railways
Restrictions tightened by the Indian Railways to prevent misuse of Tatkal Booking, particularly during the opening hours. Maximum efforts has been taken subsequently in the reservation of tatkal during the morning hours. Now, the individual passengers are permitted to book only two tickets between 8AM to 9AM.
The facility of change of name is not permissible on tatkal scheme. Refund rules have been made stringent to discourage frivolous and proxy bookings and one more important aspect, the load of IRCTC’s server has been augmented to ensure easy accessibility to passengers booking tickets through internet.
Particularly to the agents, access to tatkal booking through internet has been denied by the Railways during the opening hours of reservation between 8 AM to 9 AM.
The scheme gives great relief to the emergency and waiting list passengers for travelling to far places. More restrictions are being expected to be adopt for travel agents in future for better service to travel with Railways by the passengers..
