General Secretary, NFIR appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene into the attempts being made by some forces to roll back the fare hike proposed by Shri. Dinesh Trivedi, Minister of Railways presented in the parliament on 14.03.2012. He stated "We oppose any move to roll back the fare hike proposed by the Minister on Indian Railways, since the input costs have gone up over a period of 5 years. Shri. Dinesh Trivedi’s move is valid and justified and we do not approve any political meddling in the Indian Railways by some forces causing harm to the financial health and efficiency of the organization."
He also pointed out that Indian Railways is not the property of any political party or an individual. Indian Railways is the property of the nation. Any party or individual loving the nation must extend their whole hearted support for the right decision taken with foresightedness by Shri.Dinesh Trivedi. About 2000 employees die every year in the course of performing their duties to keep alive the life line of the nation 24/7/365.
Fourteen lakh employees on Indian Railways will be compelled to revolt if fare hike is attempted to be rolled back and NFIR will lead the agitation from forefront to save the Indian Railways and nation.
