Requirement of the LTA Certificate for grant of Family Pension.
Requirement of LTA certificate for grant of family Pension has been relaxed. Where the PDAs are unable to issue LTA certificate Family Pension may be granted after obtaining a certificate from the widow/ claimant in the form of Affidavit / Indemnity Bond, stating that “ Her Husband / Deceased was a pensioner at the time of his / her death. Her/she has neither been convicted/Sentenced/Remarried nor changed his/her nationality before death. If at a later stage he/she is found ineligible for grant of Family Pension, he/she will be liable to refund the entire amount with interest paid to his/her as Family Pension.” This certificate/affidavit should be witnessed by two Defence Pensioners.
A plethora of complaints have been received in this office where the claims of Family Pension have not been initiated by your office in the absence of LTA certificate.
In view of the above, it is once again requested that in the cases where the PDA is not in a position to issue LTA certificate, an affidavit as brought out above, may invariably be supported with the Family Pension claim of the NoK.
